NAGAP, The Association for Graduate Enrollment Management, was created, first and foremost, to serve the professional development needs of professionals working in graduate enrollment management (GEM) throughout the U.S. and now abroad. To continue delivering on these objectives, the 2018-2020 Education Committee has created a guiding document to plan educational content for NAGAP’s members through a variety of channels with relevance across levels, roles, and areas of responsibility. As part of this work, the Committee, including the work of previous Education Committees, defined the core competencies and traits that GEM professionals should strive to possess to be successful working across the GEM lifecycle. These competencies and traits should serve as the foundation for planning and delivering all NAGAP educational content.
Educational Conferences and Offerings
NAGAP strives to provide informative, enriching and current education to its members. NAGAP educational offerings are constantly evolving. Our offerings range in size and scope from the multi-track Annual Summit with over 900 attendees, to the intimate Professional Development Institute with about 40 participants.
NAGAP’s educational offerings also provide an opportunity for members to share their knowledge and experience and create personal connections with their fellow GEM professionals throughout the year.
Graduate Enrollment Management Summit
The NAGAP Graduate Enrollment Management Summit is designed with numerous educational sessions to meet everyone’s needs whether they’re new in graduate admissions and graduate enrollment management, or a seasoned veteran. The educational sessions will provide new approaches and creative strategies in a variety of topics related to our field, admissions policies and processes, career and staff development, graduate student support and financial aid, legal and ethical issues, marketing and recruitment, student services, and many others.
Held each year in April, the summit brings over 900 GEM professionals together under one roof to gain insight and knowledge from peers and experts in the field.
Professional Development Institutes (PDI)
For 19 years, NAGAP has been educating graduate admissions and enrollment management professionals through its series of Professional Development Institutes. The Winter Institute is offered for the Advanced Graduate Enrollment Management Professional and the Summer Institute specifically focuses on the needs of those who are New Graduate Enrollment Management Professional, in the field three years or less. A half-day program that focuses on a specific issue affecting graduate enrollment management is also offered at the conference each year, the Pre-Conference Institute.
To better serve its members, NAGAP has begun offering regular webinars on a variety of graduate enrollment management topics. These informative sessions are provided by NAGAP members as well as professionals throughout the GEM community and the vendors that support them. Each session is provided at no charge to NAGAP members and archived sessions are available for viewing in the NAGAP Online Resource Center.
