We put a lot of effort and budget into recruiting graduate students to our institutions, but how are we doing at keeping them there and helping them to achieve their ultimate goals? Demographic shifts, increased competition, and a national question of the return on investment of higher education pursuits means we need to demonstrate success in our student outcomes and show we are retaining and graduating our students. Our undergraduate counterparts have specific benchmarks to consider (US Department of Education College Scorecard), but the literature and national retention focus does not cover graduate-level retention and student success initiatives to the same degree. Come hear how the University of Michigan-Dearborn has started to dive into their Master's level student data, create awareness of the retention impact on graduate enrollment management, and is working to develop a culture of continuous improvement in this area.
