Navigating through higher education can feel a lot like travelling through outer space. As GEM professionals, we are faced with compounding workloads and changing resources, and at the same time we are asked to increase enrollment, improve yield, and keep the mission on track. If only we had a command center to help us see challenges from a new perspective. Join the Office of Social Work Student Services, Finance and Administration from the Metropolitan State University of Denver as we share how we integrated Lean concepts and principles into our GEM team to serve as our command center. Lean, a business methodology that values respect for people and process improvement, is a practice that provides space for teams to look at challenges from a distance and take the necessary time to find powerful solutions. This framework supports effective decision making, process improvement, and the reduction of waste. In this interactive session, participants will have hands on experiences with Lean tools and elements to take back to their own institutions.
