Travel Entry Requirements:

As a reminder, the US Department of State and Homeland Security’s Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative states that all US citizens, Canadians, citizens of the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda and citizens of Mexico must obtain a passport or another accepted secure document to enter or re-enter the United States.

Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)

Canada’s new entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to Canada by air.  Exceptions include U.S. citizens and travelers with a valid visa. Eligible travelers can apply online for an eTA. Travelers will need an eTA before they can board a flight to Canada.

Toronto is served by the Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ).

The Pearson International Airport is approximately 17 miles from the Sheraton Centre hotel and the Billy Bishop Airport is approximately 2.5 miles from the Sheraton Center hotel.

Transportation to/from the Pearson International Airport:

Ride sharing services, provided by Uber and Lyft, are now available as part of a pilot project at Toronto Pearson. This is subject to change without notice.

Union Pearson Express Rail Service:

Union Pearson Express is a dedicated air-rail link that speeds travelers from Toronto Pearson International Airport to Union Station in the heart of downtown Toronto, this is the closest station to the Sheraton Centre Toronto.

It’s fast, reliable, and the trip only takes 25 minutes, with trains leaving every 15 minutes.

UP Express was designed for travelers. Free Wi-Fi is provided on trains and in station, convenient charging stations for devices, airline check-in kiosks where you can print boarding passes and luggage tags, and up-to-the minute flight information. The UP Express station is located in Terminal 1 next to the Terminal Link Train.

UP Express connects Toronto Pearson International Airport to Union Station in the heart of downtown Toronto in just 25 stress-free minutes—less than half the time it often takes by car.  Trains leave every 15 minutes with the first train departing Pearson Station at 05:27 and the last train departing at 00:57. There’s no easier or more convenient way to get to or from Toronto Pearson.

Useful Travel Tips:

Cell phone usage:  Please review the handy tips here before your arrival in Toronto to avoid surprises on your bill and confirm with your carrier the best plan options for cell phone and tablet usage. 

US Dollars are accepted at most outlets, however, your will receive any change back in Canadian Dollars.  You can purchase CAD at most banks ahead of time or exchange US dollars and most Canadian banks upon your arrival.  Credit Cards are widely accepted, however most banks charge a foreign currency fee for each transaction.  Please check with your bank for policies and fees.

Customs Clearance:  You will clear US customs before you leave Toronto. Please visit for the latest information.   Please review the allowances permitted entering into Canada.

Sheraton Centre Toronto is located in the center of downtown Toronto and home to the 2019 NAGAP Annual Conference.

NAGAP Conference Hotel Rates: NAGAP Conference Hotel Room Rate is CAD $250 single/double occupancy for standard rooms and $290 CAD for deluxe rooms, plus taxes. The conference rate will be honored three nights pre/post of the conference dates based on availability.

The deadline to confirm your reservation at the special conference rate is Tuesday, March 19, 2019.  However, we may sell-out prior to the deadline.

NAGAP never partners with any housing/travel companies to assist with making hotel reservations. These companies find attendees by scouring the websites and then calling and telling them the housing block is sold-out or almost sold-out, or they missed the deadline to book. They are not really breaking the law; however, they are not providing accurate information, and they usually require full payment upfront or non-refundable deposits and have strict cancellation/change polices.
