Winter Institute for Advanced Graduate Enrollment Management Professionals

For 20 years, NAGAP has been educating graduate admissions and enrollment management professionals through its series of Professional Development Institutes. Over an intensive two days, attendees will discuss graduate enrollment management opportunities and challenges faced by senior-level administrators who typically have five or more years of experience.

  • Legal and Ethical Issues
  • Strategies for Diversity and Inclusion in GEM
  • Making Data-Driven Decisions
  • Strategic Planning in GEM

Keynote Speaker:

Tom Evans will be joining us as our keynote speaker.  Dr. Evans currently serves as President of Carroll College in Helena, Montana.  His career path includes time working in graduate enrollment management and several terms serving on the NAGAP Board.  

Agenda for 2015 Winter Institute

When and Where:

The 2015 Winter Institute for Advanced Graduate Enrollment Management Professionals will be held on Thursday, January 15 and Friday, January 16, 2015 at the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino in San Juan, Puerto Rico . The sessions are expected to begin at 8:30 am on Thursday and conclude by 3:00 pm on Friday.

Who Should Attend:

The Winter Institute focuses on advanced topics and is specifically designed for graduate admissions and enrollment management professionals with five or more years of experience.
It is offered in a setting that promotes discussion and interaction among all participants. Enrollment is limited; therefore, early registration is strongly encouraged.


Early Bird Registration is now closed

  • Members: $600
  • Non-Members: $825 (includes single membership)

Regular Registratin is now closed.

  • Members: $700
  • Non-Members: $925 (includes single membership)

The registration fee includes:

  • Attendee registration
  • All session materials
  • Continental breakfast and lunch on Thursday and Friday
  • Reception on Thursday evening

To keep costs down and to provide participants with free evenings, dinners are on your own.

How to register:

Cancellations received in writing prior to the cancelation date will be eligible for 100% refund minus a $50 processing fee. If a registrant cancels after the deadline or fails to attend the Winter Institute and payment is not received, the registrant’s school will be billed and held responsible for full payment.

Hotel Reservations:

Hotel Reservations must be made by December 22, 2014 to guarantee the Institute rate of $180 per night plus tax for the standard single/double room including complimentary internet access. Upgraded rooms are available for an additional fee. The Institute rate is available from January 13, 2015 through January 18, 2015 to accommodate additional personal travel days.

Attendees can reserve a room with a credit card. One night’s deposit is required when making the reservation. You may cancel room reservations without penalty up to 48 hours in advance of your arrival date.


NAGAP encourages its members to apply for a Winter Institute fellowship. Fellowships are a great way to stretch professional development dollars.

One fellowship is available for NAGAP members. The fellowship covers the registration fee, hotel accommodations for two nights (Wednesday, January 14 and Thursday, January 15, 2015) and air travel (up to $500).

To apply for a fellowship, e-mail your name, title, institution, contact information (including address, phone, fax and email) and a 250-word essay saved as a Microsoft Word document to Kathryn Kendall, Assistant Dean for Admissions and Recruitment, State University of New York at Buffalo, at kkendall at buffalo.edu. Please include “NAGAP Fellowship” in the subject line.

The essay should include your assessment of the state of graduate enrollment management and how it pertains to your institution and to you as a professional, as well as how you think the Winter Institute would assist you in your professional development.

Fellowship recipients must agree to submit an essay about their experiences at the Winter Institute. Their essays will later appear in an issue of NAGAP’s Perspectives. Fellowship application deadline has passed.
